Welcome to the 2012 Annual Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale!
Every year approximately 1,500 volunteers share their time, talent, and monetary contributions at the Illinois Relief Sale to help alleviate suffering at home and abroad. Eighty percent of the net proceeds are sent to Mennonite Central Committee (MCC), a relief and service agency working in over 60 countries of the world. Twenty percent is used by local charitable organizations such as the Salvation Army, Peoria City Mission, Southside Mission, Bloomington's Center of Hope Pantry, Midwest Foodbank, and others for the purpose of providing food for the hungry.
This year Central Illinois celebrates its 54th Annual Illinois Sale. The first Illinois Sale was on March 21, 1959, at the Congerville Angus Sale Barn and realized a net income of $5,000. In 1966 the Illinois Sale was moved to Peoria's Exposition Gardens, and from 1983 through 1997 the Sale was held in Peoria's Civic Center. Since 1998, the Relief Sale has been at the Interstate Center in Bloomington, Illinois.
On Sunday evening, July 10, 2011, the Illinois Mennonite Relief Sale Board of Directors met to discuss future locations and dates for the Sale. The annual event has traditionally been held in March, usually on the third weekend. The Sale Board weighed several options and then decided that the 54th Annual Illinois Sale will again be held at the Interstate Center on March 16-17, 2012.
The Illinois Relief Sale Board sincerely thanks all who have supported the Sale in the past, and the Board extends a cordial invitation to all to attend the 54th Illinois Sale on March 16-17, 2012.
